The Art Gallery is currently undergoing renovation. A special study and restoration project for the Despotopoulos building has been planned, as well as a study for the re-exhibition of works from the Chios Municipal Art Gallery Collections. The new form of the building will ensure optimal conditions for the preservation and exhibition of the Gallery’s collections and the rational management of energy in an architectural gem of our city.

During the time required to complete the work on the Gallery building, a series of selected works will be exhibited at the Homerion Cultural Center of the Municipality of Chios, located opposite the current Gallery, while small temporary exhibitions are already being planned at important monuments and venues around the island.

The Gallery is open to collaboration with experts, artists, and organizations for the development of exhibitions, cultural and digital activities, as well as for the temporary loan of works for important exhibitions in Greece.

In the near future, the Gallery’s collections will be reorganized and a program of systematic intervention maintenance will be implemented for works that require additional care.
